Can someone explain to me why my powerwasher died? I tried to get all the air out by squeezing the handle with the power off, until the water ran out of it at a constant stream. Then I turned the power on and was blasting the crud off my grill for about 10 seconds. The power washer then burped some air out, and after a few seconds the motor died. I don"t understand how a few seconds of air can cause the motor to burn up.

We have a Husky electric power washer. One day it just quit working. We had nothing to lose, so started dismantling to find out how far the water was getting. Finally determined the problem was in the hand wand. When we dismantled it, we found a very small piece, about 1/4 in, in the trigger mechanism had given it up. We took the piece out and sprayer will work, but not the trigger mechanism. A small annoyance, but at least the washer works. We also had a $90 Husky digital battery charger that died after about a year and a half. We"re not too pleased with Husky products.

Get gas powered unit with a Commet or Cat ceramic piston pump and a soap injector. Then connect the washer to the soft hot water hose from the house.
You will wonder why you ever tried an electric on cold water.

My $100 cheapo also died but it was only the cheap plastic pressure switch. Non replacable so now it's always on when the switch is on. Makes life interesting.

Bob has it correct, you did not burn up a motor because of a burp of air. I'm guessing you will find a very simple fix. Always put a screen for a garden hose --like a washing machine has in the inlet. A chunk of sand can give you issues. Is there a red reset button on the motor--keep your fingers back if you do push the red reset. Do you have a heavy cord--not so much big around as big wires? Did you check the oil level? Can you spin the motor / pump with your fingers?

My power washer began shutting down every little bit, and I had to disassemble some of the plumbing that contained a jet. Cleaned out the crud, reassembled, and works great.

Does it have a GFI reset button, or an overload reset button? Are you SURE it's plugged into a functioning outlet?
