Makita makes disc for cutting tile and ceramic for you 4 1/2" angle grinder. I just did a bathroom floor and made all the tile cuts with it. It went so well I bought an off the shelf size Granite counter with built in sink fom Home Depot. Saved me 750 bucks from a custom order because the top was only $199.00. I marked both sides and trimed an inch off both sides. It cut like butter! I had the wife spray a little water from a sqirt bottle right at the cut as I was going to keep it cool and keep dust down. It worked so well I thought I'd tell you guys that cutting tile or counter tops is a breeze with that blade on your 4.5" angle grinder. That grinder has to be my favorit tool. Oh and the cut was so smooth I could leave it exposed if I had too.

I cut 3cm. granite with a circular saw and 7" diamond blade all the time.As long as you keep the blade cool with water it works great.Use a variable speed grinder, carbide grinding stone and diamond polishing pads and you can shape and polish the edges also.
I have made a lot of kitchen and bar counter tops for friends/family in my back yard that way.

I have one of these that it still in the package. It was a freebie with a Makita grinder I bought. In fact it was a decision maker in the deal. I've never used it but expect that someday I will for something. Good to know it really works.

Thats how I got my blade! It wasn't the bigest part of the decition it was the way they erganomicaly made the handle better. I noticed my cuts and grinds are a whole lot smother and I use the flapper wheel to smooth grinds a lot less. I guess they knew what they were doing when they gave those blades out. Who knows they may sell one or two just from word of mouth like this. I bought mine at Home Depot a few months back so if sombody needs a grinder I bet they can still find the Makitas with that blade packaged with it.

Are you referring to the side handle being angled slightly forward? Its a good unit and is easy to use. I haven't used a flap wheel yet. I used it today to sharpen some mower blades. Used my portable gantry crane and a strap to pick up the front end of my zero turn mower (super heavy) and its better than a jack and stands, nothing in the way.

I know, I know, a grasshopper has a deck that flips up to get to the blades, but I've got a Great Dane Chariot, and aim to keep it.

I did the same thing when I did my son's bathroom with tile.
I also bought an 8" dry tile blade for my table saw and we cut the long straight pieces with it. Worked like a charm and still have both blades. It was cheaper then renting a tile cutter.

How did you guide the grinder so that the cut was straight and even? I have seen a foot plate that replaces the grinder shield and makes it more like a small hand held circular saw. Did you cut from the top or the back side to prevent chipping?

It's good to know about the larger blades for a table saw. On mine I just marked a good black line on the back. I held it steady for the first inch and then just ran the blade deep enough that the grinder body rode along the stone.Once you are 3" in you have the cut to keep the wheel centered in. Like it was all made for it. No chips and if there are like the last 1/4" when it breaks instead of cuts you take the edge of the blade and sand it down. The stuff works and cuts like wood. Like nice wood! I just asked the wife and we estimate that the 3/4" 22" wide granite stone took 3 minuts to cut and it comes out perfect. I gotta fiquire out how to attach the back and side splashes I cut. Clear silicone? Do I need to seal the granite in a bathroom or is that for a kitchen with food use?
