Dewalt drills- New vs. rebuilt plus Ebay rant

I purchased a Dewalt 18v. drill with charger and two batteries on Ebay. It was CLEARLY advertised as NEW for about $ 135. It was sold by Max Tool. It arrived today and it marked as "rebuilt with pride in Mexico" on each piece as well as the box it came in.

It seems OK, batteries took charge, drill looks new, it seems to operate just fine. I have a couple of questions I'd like feedback on: 1) are the rebuilts any good? If the speed switch, brushes, gears, etc. are replaced I have no problem with recycled housings etc. Also I presume new cells in the battery packs.
2) I don't use Ebay much but is this something to post negative feedback about? I feel like I was mislead since there were other drill kits advertised as rebuilt for about the same money. New ones were around $200.

Thanks for any replies, the advice on these boards are usually excellent.

Thanks to all for your replies. I feel better about the rebuilt tool. ALSO- I must apologize. I went back and found the listing that I purchased the drill from and WAY DOWN in the small print it said that it was rebuilt. I don't use Ebay often so I guess I didn't read it carefully enough. $135 for an new dewalt seemed like a good deal. BTW the post about the rebuilts having been given more attention makes sense. Every piece had a sticker with and ID number on it. Thanks again for the replies

I have purchased a couple of Delta rebuilds (before B&D bought them) with no problems. I read somewhere on a forum a quote sort of like this. "When you buy a new tool, no one has paid any attention to it during manufacture. When you buy a factory rebuild, it's received personal attention to make sure it's right." This doesn't square with the another post here, but I would have no problem purchasing rebuilds. I would make an effort to deal with the seller on ebay.

Have you emailed the seller with this. Just might be that it was an honest mistake when they shipped it. Maybe your was to go to someone else and it got sent to you.

Maxtool are decent people, give them a call before you feedback.
I've had several dealings with them in the past, never had a problem..

Leave negative feedback on someone and they could do the same to you. Myself, I think "new" means brand new and I would be torqued.

Sellers on eBay can no longer leave negative feedback on buyers. That's because sellers would routinely retaliate in kind against negative feedback from buyers.

Dave I have purchased some rebuilt or remanufactured tools and I will buy them if I can find them when I am looking. My uncle used to work for Porter Cable and he told me when ever I can to buy them as much of the time they have never been plugged in, but suppose to be when they are taken out of the box and out of plastic wrap they are to be sent back to factory to be rechecked and the only difference than new (most of time) they have been taken out of the box. I have had no problem with mine and probably until I do I will continue to buy remanufactured. Now to keep the sellers on Ebay in line I would do as Mikicic says and check the add, If you are right he may give you a few $$$ back. Good luck Richard

Had a very bad experience with Porter Cable rebuilt sabre saw. It was supposedly rebuilt in Tennesee but the blade roller was rusted solid and showed signs of excessive wear, the gearbox had dried dirty grease grease, and the commutator and brushes were all worn out.

Contact the seller before you leave a negative feedback. If you kept a copy of the sale in your desktop folder, reread it to make sure it didn't say rebuilt somewhere in the description. If it didn't you could ask the seller for a refund or report him to Ebay for Fraud.
