I noticed someone had a set of jackstands for sell on ebay, item no. 595157710, for 67 cents. Someone explain to me how they can sell them for this. I happen to know that Lincoln stands are the best in the business and cost around 90.00. Any explanations? ANDY

It says in the ad that they are brand new.

These could be leftovers from a bygone hobby, I sure like to look at safety things like this before buying, like the sign in a motorcycle shop said, "If you got a $5 head, wear a $5 helmet."

I,use to like auctions but it seems anymore everyone has one. Jack stands are not something I,wouldnot want to buy not being able to see them up close , when what ever is on them more than likely I,will be under.

I don't know about the pricing but I prefer to either buy "really good ones" (commercial) or have a friend of mine make them. He is a good welder and they weigh a small ton but they will never have a problem either.
JUST BE SAFE WHEN WORKING UNDER SOMETHING.

Note the STARTING BID is 67 cents. By now it's gone up. Also note this is a "Reserve" auction in which the seller has placed a miminum amount he is willing to sell it for. For all we know it could be $1,000. Anyway, since there is six days to go there will be lots of increases. If your looking for something on Ebay search for it under "Completed Auctions" to get an idea of the $ range you might expect to pay.

Why then wouldn't you start the auction at your reserve price?

Sorry, it's not MY auction.

Anyway, I think some people feel starting with a low bid will make the "action" more interesting for everyone. Look now - the price is over $30.00

That's still only a third of what new ones cost and the man said they were new. ANDY

Ever been to an auction. The auctioneer will start out at say $100, quickly go down to $5, and then work his way back up $80 and sell the item.

Same thing here. You start out low to troll the waters and get people to bid. They'll balk at a straight offer of say $50, but bid $30, and talk themselves into going up to $70. But they still will not come straight out with the $50.
