Oxy Acetylene welding kit

Looks like you have a lot of good advice. I would add that T-bone is one of the better welding info sources here. I have used Victors and they are a nice unit.

I personally own 4 Smith M series torches and I like them also.

If you are looking for a bargain I would suggest either Farm Sales or E-bay. Best way to buy at a farm sale is with the tanks. This type of setup will bring $200 to $300 in my area but at that price you are buying the tanks a little under what they would cost at the welding shop and getting everthing else thrown in.

One other note as I am sure was mentioned in the class you took is to make sure you get antiflashback valves.

Theres nothing finner than a Victor 100 torch. Small body for great hand control and less hand fatique. A with a 3/16"x25ft hose works well for shop use. The torch is rated for 1-1/2" cutting or brazing 1/2" plate. Great quality and will last a very long time.

Nothing wrong with other brands other than the large mixing body size is like using a club.

Make sure you get a big enough acetylene tank to handle your heaviest cutting and heating requirements. Ask the salesman what the appropriate size is to handle the "draw-down" of the rig you're considering. He should be able to look up on the tip charts to see what you need. If he gives you a blank stare, go shop somewhere else.

Can cut, probably 3 -inch thick steel if I needed to) and weld with the smallest standard tip sizes (00) and it the torch is light and comfortable.
