i just acquired a maxon mcb-30 compact 40 channel cb radio are these any good?... any big problems?

That radio should work alright. I gotta maxon mcb-45 i think it is. I would recommend going to a cb shop if there is one near ya, and getting it tuned. They can test your radio and antenna set up and be able to get the most out of it. I had mine done, cost $5 and was well worth it.

Yes one big problem is finding a channel that has inteligent life. Yes they can be found.
I hear folks asking for help and they get nasty replies from radio pirates that crash the airwaves. It is terrible in our neck of the woods. Some truck drivers are not the gentlemen they used to be at all.
I am sure it will work fine.
