Grass Weeds penetrating asphalt driveway

I had a section of driveway added placing 3" of asphalt over a blue rock base. The installer told me to expect grass to poke up through the asphalt. He was right. I wish I had treated the area with a grass killer before the asphalt was installed. Is there any way to keep this from happening or seal over the top and keep the grass from coming through?

Funny thing --That you can place a piece of newspaper in the garden, and grass dies underneath. Same thing with a piece of 2x4. When I see grass growing up through concrete, or asphalt, I think the seed germinated in the existing crack that was filled with dirt.

Pramitol, once a year or less often. Its a residual unlike Round UP which is a contact killer. Salt will work too.

Round-up. Then seal with Latex-cite or similar product.

mark,
where do you buy Latex-cite? I googled the word but couldn't find any info on it. Is there anything similar to it with a brand name that might be more familiar?

I would welcome some grass to start showing in my yard. (:^D
My drive is concrete and I fight the weeds and grass in the cracks every year. I walk down the drive with a Walmart ready mixed Roundup sprayer when it starts to bug. Correctly stated would be when Dixie's bugging me starts to bug me. The new ones don't wear out your hand like the old ones did.

Yep.. the real answer would be to have pre-treated the ground. Now all you can do is spot treat. herbicide.. or a CACL mix poured on 'growth' spots will stop it.

Use Roundup at first sign of grass coming thru.
