Anyone know the size (# of gallons) a 100# LP tank is? I am considering using it for an auxilary air compressor tank.

Thanks,
Glenn F.

Inside diameter is 14.5 inches; 36 inches tall..... excluding the rounded ends. 25.73 gallons..... excluding the rounded ends. Someone who paid more attention in class will have to figure the ends..... ....

I went with a 110 gallon bubble tank. hooked it in with the 30 gallon compresser tank for a total of 140 gallon air tank. With that much tank capacity I get by with a small compressor.

Hello Gleen F
From my calculations a 100# propane tank holds 23.52 gallons. 1 gallon of propane weight 4.25 lb.
So 100:4.25=23.529 gls.If the 100 lb.capacity is at 80% total capacity then the tank would hold an additional 4.705 gls.for a total of 28.234 gls. Guido.

For a cylinder:

Volume = (Pi x R squared x L) / 231 = gallons

Where:
Pi = 3.1416
R = Radius
L = Length
231 = cubic inches in a gallon

They are rated @ 23.6 gallons. You only fill propane tanks to 80%, so I'm GUESSING they hold 23.6 gallons when filled 80% full, about 30 gallons when 100% full.

Think about 23 gal. You should install a relief valve.
