Anybody else get the new Northern Tool Catalog in hardcover? I will have to put in a bookshelf in the reading room for it cause its so fancy! I have trouble throwing out the old ones when they expire. Not sure what I will do with this one next fall!

Get catalogs but never ordered anything. They won't say where it's made at so you have to guess. Won't tell shipping--have to call to find that out. I would guess that would mean a bunch of auto answer stuff then finally be told all people were busy. LB

I was just on Northern's website last week, and it gave me the shipping on every item I looked at. But maybe I was checking out the wrong items, and your experience might differ from mine.

We have a Grizzly store about 65 miles away in Williamsport Pa. Real nice store and real nice people running it. Most times it's easier and cheaper if I want some thing big, to just drive down there. Other times I just call and order. I try not to buy too much imported stuff but sometimes that's all thats available. Grizzly's imported junk seems to be better than the rest of the imported junk.

I don't buy the stuff that northern has made for them. I buy the stuff where the name is familiar. I've bought parker pumps, Hobart welders, and other name stuff. I don't agree with northern products. Fast shipping and handling though.

im not a big fan of northern at all. The only time i'll buy someting from them is if i cant afford a craftsman, and even then, i dont have hopes of keeping it long term

Got it Saturday - this is the second hardcover. Been getting catalogs for years, but last year bought a backup generator. Zing -- hardcover catalog.

They maybe gauge how much you buy?

I got it too, surprised the heck out of me. I haven't even "bought" a book that fancy for years. I find their catalogs a good reference tool to find what I want/need and then go to eBay or elsewhere online to compare prices. About half the time I buy from Northern Tool and the other half elsewhere.

I did spend $24 online with them over the weekend after looking through it. I live about 40 miles from their Des Moines, IA store but with the price of gas today and the possibility that one of my two items would be out of stock if I drove down there, the $5.99 UPS fee is worth it. If I was in a hurry for it I would drive but I can usually can expect items within a week or so when I order online and use the standard UPS ground shipping option.

You guys don't know how much I envy you. I love the catalogs but the shipping to the islands makes it impracticle for most things. They won't even tell me the shipping cost until AFTER I order.

Joe from Mn, I can order from them via internet, but it makes no sense to do so. The shipping charges are through the roof, more than doubling the prices. And NO, we don't have Harbor Freight or Northern on Oahu. A couple of times I visited Phoenix, and loaded my suitcases at HF for the trip home though.

Thanks Rocky --- so your on the busy Island -- I just returned from Kauai -- and I see they have a Re-Store -- where you can buy things cheap -- what Harbor Freight or Northern have,

the key to buying things you need is -- find some one that can get things at low cost in the US -- then have them shipped -- but you have to know some one who can look for things you need that are low cost --- mostly garage sales and flea markets -- let me know if your in need of some thing special and maybe I can get you a deal --- email -- [email protected]

No, they do not have any this far west.I think one would do VERY well here. I have never been in one of their stores. I have been tempted when I was in the Twin Cities but was afraid of how much I would want to buy! Is everything in the stores also in the catalog? Or do the jave stuff there that is not listed?
Harbor Freight openen a bunch of stores here in the last couple years and is doing a land office business. Cabellas opened ONE store in WA this past winter and you cannot hardly get in the parking lot!! Northern is missing a bet not to expand to here!

Been doin biz w/them for 15-20 yrs.These days,like everywhere you haveta watch just what your buying as they often carry things all the way from Top of the Line down to Throwaway grade,so as to meet buyers needs/budget.Usually shop their online catalog...cept from the throne room,where the paper one is entertaining.Hmmm,wonder if they have a outhouse laptop table? :)
