I had one 12 volt panasonic and when the batteries (two) finally gave out I bought another (with two Nickel metal hydride batteries) and earlier hand gotten a spare nicad battery. I think the drills and the batteries are great. I esp like the 'T' design with the flat battery base. I can set the drill down and it is upright and easy to grab again. I have found the battery life to be good. Was about 6 or so years between purchases. This is with intermittant but heavy "homeowner" use use.

Think about it. Its the batteries that are the key to cordless tools- and panasonic makes their own and sells to others.

There are many Japanese companies, like Hitachi and Panasonic, that no one ever thinks of for tools. However, they are very high quality and should last a long, long time. The only problem is finding service centers for them, but if it never breaks...

Go for it. $100 is less that HF charges for cheap Chinese crap.

DONT THINK YOU COULD GO WRONG, 24V FOR A 100 BUCKS SOUNDS GOOD TO ME, NEVER USED A PANOSONIC BUT WITH THE 2 BATTERIES AND CHARGER IF IT ONLY LASTED FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS YOU WOULD COME OUT AHEAD. 2 BATTRIES IS A MUST WHEN BUYING A CORDLESS ANYTHING.

MY .02 WORTH

GOOD LUCK

Don't have one, but there was a thread here awhile back where a poster who had several thought they were the best cordless drill on the market.. a real 'sleeper' product.

Perhaps that fellow will post his comments again... or that thread may be back in the archives somewhere.
