Buy wooden closet bars- about the same diameter. Cut to proper legth- probably get 10 or more per section

The old wood types getting heavier every year to me. Might want to rethink the repair job. If the rungs are going so should the ladder?

I,ve used 3/4" pipe with nuts welded in the ends. Drilled bolt holes in the uprights. Use big washers. Strong but heavy.

Butch..... ..ya really don't haffta YELL at us, my eyeballs are just fine. (grin)

There is a REASON why you can't find WOOD ladder rungs for replacement. And the same reason you DON'T PAINT wood ladders. It ain't SAFETY. And iff'n ennyone gitts injured on painted or replaced ladder rungs, the INSURANCE will NOT PAY.

Yeah I know, OSHA or MSA or what ever governmental bureaucrats you can think of, are a PITA. They make my company run a SAW down the middle of the rungs while they watch. No second chance to kill summbuddy..... ...Dell

It is legal to repair ladders per OSHA regulations.
I just looked it up about 6 months ago. Repairs have to be made by a "competent" person. I was the closest we had.
We had a few at work that were a little wobbly. 2 were repaired 2 were cut up for scrap. Any that needed welded were scrapped. We also don't use wooden ladders.

Hey there BUTCH;
You might try going to a lumber yard (or Lowes).and buying oak dowel stock, with just a little larger OD, cut them to length,then shave the end down to fit. This might solve your problem.
