I thought I'd post back regarding my Bonneville woes which many of you gave helpful advice in solving.

As you may remember, it would not stay running, showed "check engine," brake chime was on, and had limited brakes.

The brake problem proved to be a leaky line to the right rear wheel (I have now replaced most of the brake lines under the car).

The engine problem was the map sensor. Early on I had cleaned it with carb and choke cleaner, with slight success. I later cleamed it with ether and it now runs very well. Carb/choke cleaner leaves an unacceptable residue.

The ole' girl now has a new lease on life.

Thank you,
Glenn F.

Why couldn't it be the MAP Sensor?

Glad to hear you've got your Bonne workin' good again. A friend of mine drives one...has ~300,000 km on it, still runs beautifully. It's destined to disappear soon, though...suspension is shot, A/C is shot, floor is starting to go...cost of repair is almost the cost of a good used car.

Andrew,Cause there's nothing to clean on a MAP sensor.Any carb cleaner would destroy unit.

Yes, I think it is the MAF sensor.
