H F Compressor...Pump Only

I currently have a couple old two stage compressors set up (one backing up the other). They are working well, but I always like to be prepared....

Does anyone have the following V-twin Harbor Freight compressor pump currently in service:

-Catalog# 93786
-140 PSI single stage
-5 HP
13.4 CFM at 90 PSI
-Splash lubricated
$99.99

While I like the high pressure of my two stage system, a single stage would be adequate. This is for my private shop, so it would not be used all day, every day. My current compressors combined are not producing 13 CFM at 90 PSI.

I'd appreciate hearing any first hand feedback on this particular HF pump.

Thank you,
Glenn F.

They are ok for home use, or light shop use. I wouldn't want to sandblast with them though. If you want more delivery, I'd suggest a slightly larger pump, as this one seems max output rated at 1200rpm, which might get a bit tiring to listen to. $99 is pretty cheap!

My rule when purchasing tools from harbor freight
or cummins or places like that is if it has moving
parts don't buy it. If no moving parts buy it somewhere else.

I looked at those too. didn't buy one. Came accross a deal on a used complete compressor in the paper. It was from Rural King and the pump looks the same as the HF one. We are using it in the shop and it won't really keep up enough to run air tools as nice as I'd like. The DA and die grinder won't get enough air to run full out. So I'd say nice for general uses like blowing stuff out and off ,but not enough if you start using air tools.

Can they, though? Maybe if you just upgrade the motors, you would not have to throw good money away on a HF pump.
