I have had this dewalt 735 13 inch planer for not to long, about 3 months, I have run a fair amount of wood through her, well it started needing to have the wood pulled thru alot,, I even tried slower feed, less cut,, it was getting worse I was getting mad, I looked up on the net day before yesterday about potentila fixes,, and today went to lowes and stood around for awhile , I was going to see if they had anolther one to exchange,, well I read on the net that sometimes the feed table gets dull and a wax job solves the problem,,

well I found so wax in the barn, and waxed the table,, and ran a board through,, expecting no change,, well it pulled it thru,, I set the depth pretty deep and it pulled it through,, works great now I ran about 100 ft thru and no trouble,, so -- if your planer is acting up try wax, it worked for me,, waxon----waxoff....

When I ran a planer the feed rolls were serrated and the serrations would fill up with soft material. Had to pick them out on a regular basis. Also had a stock feeder on the shaper with rubber rolls that used to pick up dirt & glaze over. Good luck! joe-

Paraffin is a good wax to use on machine beds and tables, also a teflon spray works. We used both in the furniture industry before it went to China. Just a note all Broyhill Furniture case goods are now imported.

I have had success hand sharpening planer knives using an old Craftsman grinder with water bath. The grinding wheel has only about three inch diameter and two inch width. It runs at low RPM. There is a small tool rest with adjustable angle.

I set rest angle to duplicate original bevel then carefully and lightly grind end-to-end on the knife -- repeating as necessary. I am careful to stay as uniform as possible. The system works for knives that are dull but not deeply nicked.

Dull blades are a factor.Waxing the bed helps but dull blades will give feed problems. If the blade edge reflects light the blades are dull..
