I obtained a very old(early 1900's?) dual air cylinder, manual air pump and would like to know maore about it. It has a long steel handle with a wooden grip at the top and it works by moving the handle back and forth which moves the pistons in the 2 copper cylinders. On top of both the cylinders the company name goes around the perimeter of the cylinder caps "Bishop & Babcock, Cleveland". The cylinders are about 6" high and 4" in dia. There is a valve at the air exit and high pressure hoses still attached. The handle in appr 4' long and the base of the unit looks like cast iron and is about 14" wide by 6". Any information on exactly what this is and when it would have been made would be appreciated. Thanks.
Gerry

Gerry, I believe what you have is an antique tire pump, carried in a car. The cylinders are larger than what I've seen, but two cylinder, high/low side tire pumps were pretty common, when a motorist could count on a flat tire every ten miles or so. Probably an aftermarket item. These were more popular than regular bicycle pumps, because they could reinflate a model T Ford tire in as little as six pumps. A 1920 auto directory lists the manufacturer. Could range anywhere from 1905 to 1935. John in Ne.
