Fuel storage tanks.

I'll be making hay on a field several miles from home this summer. In the past I have always just taken gas cans for my D17. Would there be a way of taking perhaps 100 gallons and storing it there for use while haying? I am not interested in dropping big bucks for storage tanks, but I obviously don't want to blow anything up or start any fires. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Christopher

As the other guys says and or find an old aux. gas tank from a pick up truck. DO NOT leave it any place or you will find you have no gas when you come back. My self I have a 40 gal. aux. tank on my truck that I use for tractor gas.

I guess I'm naive. I don't mess with others property and I assume everyone else is the same. You have a good point about leaving fuel in the field.

Thanks.

Well with the price of gas now days its better to be safe then sorry. Shoot now days a home builder has problems with people steeling the copper wires from houses they are building and the same goes for gas. The way things are going its going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better and people will steal any thing that isn't welded down

So T-Bone,who's watching you? I'm with everybody else. Keep your fuel under lock and don't tell anyone that you have it around. Thieves stole 110 gal tank with electric pump right out of a buddies truck parked in the driveway next to his house.Yard lights made it easier for them to see what they were doing.

I had a battery swiped out of my tractor last summer. Less than 100 feet from my house, under a securiy light. Would sure like to know who the culprit was. They have been stealing copper and aluminum off center pivot irrigation systems right out of the fields here. If It isn't guarded by a junk-yard dog, it's up for grabs.

A lock is to keep a honest man honest as a thief will always get what they want.
