A thrift store I frequent has a dozen quarts of Valvoline 2 Cycle Snowmobile Oil. They want $2/qt, but its been on the shelf for 2-3 months and it's getting summer. Bottle says for injection or premix, racing or family use, flows in extreme cold. Can it be used in a chainsaw? Or is it too thin?
Thanks

The oil does not matter how long it sits, it will not go bad, the gas that is added into the oil is bad. Check and make sure it is an ashless oil.

It's an ashless oil per Valvoline. It hasn't sold in several months, and there's no snowmobiles around here. If it good for chain saws, I'm thinking of offering $10 for the lot.

It is supposed to work in any engine that requires 11:1 up to 150:1 mix ratios.
