As always, some excellent information this site lately.

Do any of you happen to have a list of common air toos and their approximate CFM requirements?

Such tools to include, but not be limited to, the following:

-DA sander
-board file sander (in-line sander)
-HVLP paint gun -high pressure paint gun (common gun style prior to HVLP)
-45 degree angle grinder
-4" air grinder
-die grinder
-3/8" drill
-air chisel
-3/8" ratchet wrench
-1/2" impact wrench
-smaller (approx. 3-4 gallon tank?) pressurized sand blaster
-etc.

Thank you,
Glenn F.

your air hogs are going to be the d/a sander, air grinders, paint guns and the sandblaster. the air file, impact wrenches and air hammer are lower consumption tools. generally, the lower cost air tools use more air than a higher quality tool also.

Hello Glenn.
Air tools are rated at 90 P.S.I. The tools rated rpm's will be higher with more pressure, and they will consume more C.F.M. Run the tools at 90 P.S.I. and you will be O.K. Lube the units before and after use, or use an automatic oiler dedicated to them. Remember if you are to use the paint gun it should be on another line with NO OIL! Some tools will work fine with less pressure than the rated one. You'll have to experiment with them. The 90 P.S.I. is to be measured at the tool inlet for the best results. A tee with a gauge will do The trick.
Guido.

Fact is you can have two air tools that look alike that will use different cfm's. Make sure when looking at the specs what the usage is.
