Hi Dave,

I responded to your post to me this morning, but when I tried to send it, it went off into the void and the whole topic disappeared. My e-mail through Y/T is open, so if you will e-mail me, I will send it to you. It seems unfair that you got your comments posted for about 12 hours and my response won't have any public airing, but fair is a concept without too many real life applications, anyway. It's probably better this way anyhow, because it's pretty much impossible to respond to a posting about politics and name-calling without discussing politics and name calling---which is what I objected to in the first place.

Stan Lewis

P.S. To the anonymous Hey Dave 2N, whose post followed Dave 2N's first post to me: You're a sycophant's sycophant---the online equivalent of an instigating voice from the back of a lynch mob. Just an observation.

If you got an e-mail signed Stanley, it wasn't from me. My parents named me Stan, that's my legal name, and that's all I've ever gone by. I don't hate the name Stanley the way I did when I was a kid, I don't even always bother to correct people who call me that, but I have no more reason to call myself Stanley than to call myself Steve---which is the other name I'm often called by people who can't quite remember my name.

Well, I sure got an email from someone adressing the issues that you were agonizing over and it was indeed, signed, "Stanley."

Stanley--

I did reply to your email, and I was going to reply further until I read again your last paragraph where you tried to establish a connection to me and my posts by linking me to your "Nazi," "Sieg Heil" and "Joe MCarthy" references. At that point, I simply decided that you have some issues that need to be addressed. Really, Stanley, don't you think you are having an unnecessarily large "hissy fit" over all of this/
My goodness, man! All I did was state my opinion about people who can't let a post "die a natural death," people who seem to blast off on a whining and tattletale spree.

Hi Dave,

You've got a point. A better use of my time would have been to forget about it. If my comparisons were way over the top, how about this: Tossing out insults after you've made sure the crowd is on your side is something a good person would feel embassassed about, not proud of. Would you say that's a more proportional response?

Stan

And--I must be missing something.... I wasn't aware that the crowd was on my side nor was I trying to get the crowd on my side. But most of all, I don't care if the crowd is on my side. Never have and never will. I call it like I see it.

BTW-Do you really have any tractors? If so, what are they?

Those weren't insults, Stanley. And you know it. Apparently conversations with you can only go one way--your way.

Have a good weekend.

You know, it seems like the people who are a sycophant (if that is a real word :>) )are not even registered users, they are just posting under a ficticious name. If I have something to say, you know who is saying it. This is also an observation.

I'm with Paul from MN. This is fairly typical of how quickly any political topic on this forum turns putrid in a hurry. There are tons of online sites where anyone is free to say anything that comes into their so called mind. Why don't those of you who want to argue politics or other inflammatory topics find somewhere to do it where it's not against the rules which, by the way, you have implicitly agreed to by posting on this site?

As has already been said on here, tractor folks don't live in a vacuum. They don't think tractors 24/7. They do look at other things that are going on in the world. They are not all liberals like you two whiners who want to control lives. You are are both singing "The Liberal Whine."

Re: OT-- Political Question in reply to Dave 2N, 03-06-2008 16:29:15 My hat is off to you. You have always been firm on your position, yet a gentleman.
If these other guys can't handle the topic they can ask someone how to avoid being forced to read it. And I have noticed that as soon as a liberal politician is discussed here the whiners come out in full force.

The truth hurts, doesn't it girls ?

Re: OT-- Political Question in reply to Hey Dave 2N, 03-06-2008 16:53:50 The facts of the matter are the politics board is gone! A tool talk forum is not a politics forum! All it does it take up a lot of space from more appropriate posts. If it's there, people will read it. 99% percent are probably also wondering why a political topic is on here. If you want to talk politics go to another web site. It's as simple as that and that is the truth! Why is it so hard to understand?

Re: OT-- Political Question in reply to Politics gone, 03-06-2008 19:09:14 Seriously now: how often does a political thread like this come up on here? That's right; not very often. So get over it and stop crying and trying to CONTROL things. Obviously, in one of the posts, someone hit a "raw nerve." If they had been saying something you liked, I really doubt if you'd be having a "whining" spasm.
Why people like you just can't sit back and roll with things rather than making a big deal out of them, I'll never know. I guess it's because you just have that need to exert your liberal control.

Re: OT-- Political Question in reply to Dave 2N, 03-06-2008 16:29:15 There used to be a political forum on here. It is gone for good reason. The other forums on here are NOT the place to bring back any political topics! O/T topics are OK as long as they aren't political or of questionable nature. Politics, religion, PETA, etc., are not topics that need to be discussed at all on what is supposed to be a friendly tractor forum!

I don't even live in the US and until I decide to run for office, I don't think it's appropriate to try to convince people of my political feelings. The real sycophants are the ones that think they could do a better job but never actually manage to get their name on a ballot. Hmmm? Someone said to me a while ago that it's not a perfect system but unless you can come up with a better one, you shouldn't complain.

Godd Morning---

Not trying to convince anyone of anything--just giving my opinion--like Stanley did. This is something we are pretty much allowed to do here in the US.
