I don't want to start sounding like a broken record, but after our the old family farmhouse burnt down on Valentine's day evening back in Nebraska thanks to meth heads getting in and something blew, ended up losing ALL the old family photos and journals, meaning the old tinplate photos, etc, suggestion was made to consider installing a monitoring system. I have considered having one installed here in Illinois where I live, even before the fire "back home", but the last time I did research on it a couple years ago for even here, couldn't really find any company worth signing up with. I listen to the Clark Howard show every day when I am out on my mail route, and he says that any monitoring outfit that won't go month to month on a contract is just not worth doing. Anyone got any ideas, still one house left in Nebraska, plus where I live. Need to be notified INSTANTLY if any thing wrong, I am willing to spend money for a few web cams to verify if all OK. DOUG

Look into a Panasonic BL-C10A camera. Sounds like just what you're looking for. Set the camera up on a DSL line and you can view it from anywhere in the world. Panasonic gives you a web address, for free and it works great. You can also pan and tilt the camera from any location. I have two and they work great. Do a google search and they also have them on Ebay for sale.

I'm no computor guru but there's students with webcams on DSL full time. They're not rich. Why can't you do the same?

There are central stations that will do business with you directly if you don't like the local companies. Really doesn't matter where they are.

Alternatively, you can have your system call your cell phone.

Monitoring is the primary profit for security businesses. When I sold mine, all I sold were the monitoring contracts. Here, unless you buy monitoring you won't get service.

Why are you so concerned with no contract?
