I have a 1962 Allis Chalmers D-19 I purchased at an antique tractor auction. When I got it home the lift was 3/4rs. of the way up. I raised it the rest of the way up, it went up, now it won't go down. I looked in the service manual and tried everthing it said to and it's still stuck up. Does anyon have any idea as what may be wrong, or how I can get this system working again. If you pull up on the lift control handle you hear the pump running, if you push down on the handle you hear nothing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank You

Jerry Southwell

I dont know much about allis chalmers- but I can tell you that if its like a d-17 the lift is only up, it is gravity down. a bearing might be slightly stuck, so get yourself on there or your weight and it SHOULD come down. If not, baybe a check valve is bad

Hey Jerry, someone over on the Allis-Chalmers board might be able to answer your question. Some of those guys don't read the Tool board. Some of those guys really know their stuff about these old A-C's.
