More machine shop headaches with the Ford head...now a knick

So I went to assemble my Ford last night...I test fit the gasket onto the head and noticed a knick in the milled surface right at the edge of the metal crush/sealing ring on the gasket. These guys knicked the head after they milled it...probably when they put the valves in.

Its been one thing after another....I know they're going to refuse to re-mill the head...but as far as I am concerned...any knick at the seal on a head has to go....what do you guys think...the knick is about 1/8" long with a few thousands depth....

Parts stores may have some 10 over rods. I might even try autozone, sometimes they do carry upper quality name brand parts for rebuilding.

I don't think I would sweat a few thousandths of an inch.
BTW.....How did you solve the rocker arm clearance problem?

First...onthe rocker....don't know yet if it'll require pedestal shims or not....it seems Ford doesn't supply "various" length push rods for the engine any more.

Second...this is tool talk....but the heading says restoration, methods, and other related topics. So I'm not sure why someone has gotten upset with the rebuild questions.

Third....it took 1.5 thousands to remove the knick...milled it this morning.

This is what the guy running the mill told me...1 to 2 thousands...in the first pass....we took off .006 to take out any slight warpage...the head was okay in the first place...I didn't want to mill it....

Well, the forum calls for restoration and maintanence....and rebuilding a Ford is restoration...I was looking for a tool...a bleed down tool...but no-one seems to know where to get one...the Ford mechanic claims they don't have one.

Our friend "Tool Talk? Taylor" just can't understand or appreciate what is involved here can he? It takes tools and machines to do everything we have discussed. We are trying to learn along with you.

BTW..I still would not have worried about 15, ten thousandths of an inch..
