Anyone aware of a decent 3/8 drive electric impact wrench?Mostly work on small engine equipment,1/2" is definite overkill.Have 3/8 air wrenchs, just thought I might try a 3/8 electric or even cordless if such exists.

plenty of stuff on amazon. I bought a set like this, but instead of the impact wrench and flashlight, I got a florescent light and impact driver. The impact driver may be the ticket for you. I used mine to drive 6 inch screws and some big lag bolts in and screw down the roof of a stall and paddock we built.

Good luck.

Dave

I use a Black and Decker cordless drill with both a 1/4" and 3/8" bit for sockets quite regularly and it does a fine job for me . This one has a "torque limiting" adjuster at the chuck to keep it from trying to twist your wrist off once tight. set on wide open, it's great for disassembly- I find i reach for it more often than my air tools.

Its a funny thing about cordless. If you had asked me about cordless 20 years ago, I'd have laughed at you, and may have. Now I drill through 14" brick walls with 18V Hilti like drilling through hot butter. Are lots of good out there like DeWalt.

I've seen cordless and corded impact wrenches at walmart...

'lug nut wrenches' can be usefull.. they are sometimes cheap but bulky and many have cig adapter or battery clips..

I use a 1/4, or 3/8 or 1/2 socket adapter in a cordless drill to spin nuts fast. Still need a wrench to get them started off, or set on though.

We use an 18v Dewalt to install wheels on trailers when they arrive from factory. Probably whiz on 200 nuts each time and that thing is just as strong on last nut as first. Same battery for entire job. Really a nice tool.

Got a DeWalt 18V cordless impact last summer--best thing since sliced bread! Not a fan of DeWalt tools in particular, but got this at a garage sale for $50 barely used, so I couldn't pass it up. Has the quick-change hex drive on it, so I can use any standard hex drive bit plus 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 sockets with an adapter. It's the cat's meow for things like deck screws and lag bolts, plus it does wonders on nuts and bolts as well. Most mechanics I know have went to cordless impacts for all but the most demanding applications--much easier to maneuver than an air impact as you're not dragging a cord everywhere.
