OT GMC truck

I just bought a 1994 GMC sierra 1/2ton truck. With a 4.3 V6. What do you guys thing it shoul get for gas milage some people have told me 20-25 some 13-15, what dow you think its 2wd nothing fancy.

When the truck was brand new 20-25 would be a reasonable estimate. I believe the truck was rated at 21, but the truck isn't still brand new. Nonetheless, if you maintain it and keep it well tuned, 18 miles per gallon would be reasonable to expect, depending on your driving habits.

I've got a 92 Chevy "W/t" set up with 4.6 and 5 spd. Unless I'm fighting the wind gets a consistent 20.

My '94 2wd 4.3l Silverado got 19 mpg best ever, 17-18 mpg when it was newer and now around 16-17 mpg with 160,000m. From what I'm reading that's better than many of the new trucks.

Should get close to 20 on highway if not better. Ten years ago we took a buddies dads '95 2wd with the 4.3L to Panama City Beach, FL. Had a tool box in it and we put another at the tailgate to store all our crap in case of rain. Three of us climed in and filled up for gas at US-6 and US-31 in Lapaz, IN. 30 somes gallons clear full. Decided not to stop for bathrooms until we needed gas... didn't happen. Had to stop once, made it all the way to just south of Birmingham, AL on that tank and only put in 20 gallons. Our calculations were about 33 mpg at 60-75 mph. Not bad!

I sold my 1995 GMC K1500 with the 4.3 in it last year. The best milage was on the highway running under 75, and it was just over 21. Everyday around town driving it averaged 18. Good engine, 175,000 miles without any problems. Still going strong when I sold it.

It'll probably average 14 to 15. Long highway trips might push it up to around 18. All stop and go city driving will probably drop it down to 13 or less. The same truck with a 5.7 would do just as good if not better.

I had a 1994 AWD Chevy Astrovan with the 4.3 and CPI injection (not throttle body). The best fuel mileage it ever got was 18 MPG on a long highway trip, and averaged 13 MPG in everday driving.
The EPA rates your truck 14 - 20 MPG if 2WD and 14-18 MPG if 4WD - and that sounds just about right. 25 MPG is never going to happen unless you coast down a hill with the engine turned off.
