I got back a batch of fuel injectors from the machine shop today...all had the paint removed and some had light rust on them. I called the machine shop and they said that was normal for sonic cleaning. The solvent they use is water-based. This seems odd....if the outside has rust on it what does the inside look like? Anybody had experience with this? I'm guessing my injectors are ruined...what do you all think? ferg

IF THEY CHECKED OR REBUILT THE INJECTORS AFTER CLEANING OK.FLUSH OUT WITH FUEL.I ONLY USE PETRO BASED PRODUCTS IN CONTACT WITH FUEL SYSTEM PARTS. WATER-RUST-BAD [CAT FUEL SYSTEMS]

I tend to agree with you. It sounds like they dumped them into a sonic cleaner and did'nt disassemble them-cheaper by far. The injectors have "O" rings inside that should be replaced when they're cleaned and rebuilt. I'd put them into a bucket of diesel and halt the rusting, this will also remove water left inside them to a great extent as diesel fuel attracts water readily. Whatever brand they are, I'd call a major dealer service center-Cat,Cummins,JD,IH, etc. and request their advice.Good Luck!
