THANKS for the replies, I just found out that a neighbor has about 8 Grizzly tools, he likes them. I will check his out next. It seems like the JET 16 inch planer and the long bed jointer are very competivly priced with other brands. I am not in a hurry. thanks again

We have a JET planner and it's a really nice machine. When we bought it the guy at the store said that the DELTA used the same head. Fit and finish are great and we picked it up at the local woodworking store.

They run fine and perform well. One thing about them is the fit and finish. We had several Grizzley tools and all of the threads had to be chased with a tap. Little things like that. Overall, for the money, they're decent.

Most of the JET (low end) and Grizzly stuff come from the same places in China.

Well worth comparing to Grizzly. Great customer service, cheap shipping and prices. as well as parts availability.
Good majority of Grizzly's items shipped freight is delivered within 2 days for most of the US. I am 500 miles away from the nearest warehouse and had all 3 freight items I ordered (one 900lbs) delivered next day. One item I was not happy with. Called tech support and talked to a real American who knew what he was talking about. Told me to box up the unit, it would be picked up next day as well as a new unit would be delivered (all freight). Sure enough it was.

Most guys I know like the JET tools they have. I bought my last item from Woodworker's Supply when they had made in USA Delta table saws on closeout.

I had been looking at JET as well as Grizzley. Friend has a Grizzley saw and he loves it.

Hey Charles -

If you are looking at Jet, have you considered Grizzly??

I really like their quality/prices.

They sure put a lot of cast iron in their tools!! I bought my first bits from them years ago and they've just grown like gangbusters ever since.

Aren't you in eastern OK?? I'm in the western extreme and have been anxious to get a trip to St. Louis setup where I could avoid shipping charges on some large items...

Anyway, my point is you might be closer, yet, and could see the tools on their showroom...

Sorry for "proselytizing" if you are really sold on Jet! ha...

Howard
