This is a Hobart G-3010 engine drive welder/generator I bought last fall and have rebuilt over the winter. I have the manual on it but no explaination is found. The welding amperage control wheel is numbered for amps. I've never worked with this type set up I've always had Lincoln and Miller. My question is noting the arrows with the numbers on both sides of each, am I safe in assuming that the numbers to the left of the arrow is for DC amps and the numbers to the right denote AC amps?

Those numbers are the ranges of amps within that setting. The middle knob is the fine adjustment and will probably vary the open circuit volts some as well. Older Hobarts had the middle fine adjustment removable so you could put an extension cord on it to use as a remote current control. It is basically the same as a Lincoln or Miller.

This has the 'local/remote' switch and 6 prong plug outlet for the OCV for fine adjustment. I'd like to find a good TIG PAK for it or at least get a schematic of one so I can build one. I haven't gotten much help on this part of it over on the Hobart discussion board. I installed an LCD digital voltmeter to the right of the original analog meter for the generator volts so if my wife needs this for emergency power to the house, she can adjust it to 240 volts and not fry every light and refrigerator. Most think I should have my head examined for fixing up this old dinosaur. But I have less than 1/2 the cost of a Bobcat or Ranger invested and cost per hour to operate is comparable. The other thing is I have a sledge hammer as opposed to a ballpeen hammer.

The Hobart generators are a very good machine.
