Just wondering. Need one that will handle 50'+, 1/2" id hose for 3/4 inch guns. Also, I need the full 180 psi at the reel mounting location for blowing and other things. Can 3/4" copper line handle 180? Can a reel handle 180?

Thank You,

scott

I know the reel. Doubt it will handle a full 50' of hose that size. If it does, it will be a case of just barely.

The joint fittings and such are fine, but nothing remarkable either. 180 psi is a good bit over the rating. I'd be hesitant of it myself.

Mine handles 120 just fine with no binding or leakage.

I bet those cheapies can't handle that much pressure, better buy a good one, maybe sears or snapon.

Do they list the specs,or can you find the "brandname" on line.I'd be very leery of any unit not freely listing specs.LOTS of stuff in the field is only rated 125-150 for single stage"homeowner/hobbyist type" systems.I take it you are a private owner..believe in most commercial applications OSHA restricts blow guns etc to like 30lbs or such for safety reasons, but may be wrong.

OSHA=30psi. Quite useless. Might as well use your breath....untill you pass out.

I think it might be 15 psi.

Scott,

May not be germane to your question but I bought a new garden hose reel, ripped out the connector and put a rubber air hose through it. Used a quick coupler fixed to a wall with about an 8 inch lead. Other side of the coupler has the hose leading to the compressor.

The hose reel is not one of the small one and I"ve got something like a hundred feet on it. Its been working ok for around 10 or 11 years now.

Thanks everyone, Im still looking them all over and will probably have to spend some real money, or make a decent one. I like that garden hose reel trick, at least I can control the quality of the connections with that idea. What can you blow with 15 or 30 psi?

Thanks,

Actually the OSHA regulation is 14lbs(looked it up). It's to prevent backblast of particles/liquids that could injure eyes etc. Most modern handheld short blowguns are orifice restricted to this. It's not so much the pressure as the volume of air that does the work,so many short guns have a venturi tip which draws in outside air to increase volume.

They must have dropped it to 14psi then. Well, I was right for '92: it was 30. But that's inflation for you. The same price but half the volume.
