Hi guys looking at buying a new pressure washer.I like to use oven cleaner on my tractors I want to paint.Any suggestions on a good one to buy?Thanks mike

I bought a Northern tools brand unit with the CAT pump and a Honda GX motor a few years ago, it is a well put togther machine. Mine is (as best I recall) 3200 psi, 3.5 gpm, 9.0 HP engine. They also sell a larger and smaller version.

That being said, I really think preasure washers are over rated - they only work well on pourous materials, or to remove particulate-type dirt from smooth surfaces. My wife encoraged me to get it (it afterall is a tool that has "wash" in it's name), but in retrospect, there are alot of other things I would have liked to have spent the $900 or so on.

A lot of people on this board have said they work alot better with hot water, but I have not tried it myself yet.

I have four units we use everyday. Mine are Alkto modle 2325. 2300psi 212 gpm. Very good machines we use oven and griddle cleaner. You can get it at the local janitoral supply co. I use do not dulute. VERY nasty stuff will eat a hole in your hands. It does a great job hope this helps roger

Cat or Comet three piston ceramic three piston pump or go home. Gas engine for power and and use hot water from the house tap. Dirt will be gone.

Sounds like you'd use it twice a year on small projects. If so a cheap wally world electric pressure washer with a turbo wand works suprisingly well. At least until the warranty expires.

I agree with Rob!

It's hard to beat the Honda engine and Cat pump combination!

You want a MINIMUM of 2500psi and MINIMUM of 3gpm!

The engine horsepower will be matched to the pressure and volume rating.

Some companies use "Cleaning Units" as a means of rating their washers. ....There is no such measurement in reality, but usually it is just the rated pressure multiplied by the rated flow.

Never run the pump without water, and never let water freeze in the pump. .....If you follow those two rules, you should get long life from the unit.

I bought the dewalt 2800 psi 6.5 hp model with the cat pump on it. very very good model at $649. Of course, dewalt doesn't make them, excell makes them for dewalt. All in all, that honda and the cat pump is a great combo.
