Husky Chain Saw - No Spark

Dad"s Husky 350 chainsaw quit on him yesterday.

He said it was running and just quit.

I checked it and there is no spark at all.

I took the cover off and don"t see any cut wires off hand.

Where to start ?

Please help !

To all...

I checked the spark by pulling the plug and resting it on the head.No fire.

I also have a tester that plugs in place of the sparkplug and lights up. No dice with that either.

Also used a screwdriver and no spark.

All of the wires look good so must be ignition module.

disconnect your ignition switch and then check for spark.

How did you test the spark? I soldiered a wire to the side of a spark plug and ran it to a 2 inch clip. My wife, however bought me an adjustable tester for $5. I would then conduct a visual inspection of the wires and components looking for burns breaks and anything that appeared to be broke or worn etc. At that point, assuming that the earlier test showed no spark, I would start using the multimeter.

I would be interested in that tool, I bought a model 36 used that ran good, about a year later it quit, no spark, bought a ignation module, still could not see a spark but it ran good with the new module

Take it back to the DEALER you got it from HUSQVARNA has a lifetime warranty on the ignition units...now if you bought it off the internet and came in MY saw shop I would SELL you the parts and install them for a fee but NO WARRANTY IF BOUGHT OFF THE NET

That`s not exactly true Randy, but of course the warranty paperwork needs to be properly submitted. An attitude like your`s gives dealers a bad name. What ever happened to helping the customer out?

Thats good to know !

Dad got it new at a local dealer. A real dealer, not a box store.

I can fix most things on a saw or weedeater but I don"t know a lot about the ignition.

I could not find any broken wires or anything obvious so I will button it back up and take it to the shop.

ya, take it back. Its most likely the ignition coil if its not the spark plug. There is a simple cheap little tool for testing to see if spark is getting to the plug.
