i am looking at a Farmall SMTA tractor owner tells me the ta clutch is out is this expensive do you haveto split tractor and replace complete ta ? ?

I don't know what your plans are for this MTA, but I personally wouldn't worry about that TA if your going to use the tractor. I bought an MTA in 1987, with a bad TA, decided I would fix it when I needed a clutch. That tractor has ran every day since I got it . The first 15yrs on a loader, the past 5yrs on a feed wagon, and I still plan on fixing that TA If I ever have to change the clutch.

Most generally when you get involved with a TA project, it is not going to be cheap. Sometimes you get lucky, most times you don't.

Anytime you work on the TA the tractor has to be split in 2 places. Like anything else, you never really know how bad they are until you get inside of them. I've had them run from $85.00 to $600.00 in parts.
