If it was on a home-built cart with one melted plastic wheel hub, it might be the one that was stolen from me....not likely, but I just had to say something.

I ran it on a 50-A breaker with #6 wire. I liked it enough I found another Thunderbolt with DC.

I've run a thunderbolt on a 50A for what seems like forever, and the breaker has never given trouble. Jim

These typically use a 50 amp line and breaker. I run a Miller Syncrowave 180SD on the recommended 50 amp. And sometimes an old (I mean WW2 vintage)Craftsman AC welder at up to 210 amps on the 50 amp.

i don't know if it is right but i put my miller thunderbolt welder on a 50 amp breaker. most of my welding is in the 70-80 amp range. so far i have not had any trouble 'tripping' the breaker at those settings. i also don't weld for more than 2-3 minutes before stopping to chip and brush. maybe a bigger breaker would be needed if welding exceeded 90-100 amps or longer time?

50 amps is the primary current when welding at 225 amps. The welder wont draw 50 amps primary current if you are welding at 50 to 80 amps welding.

If you didn't get the owners manual with the welder you should be able to download it from the Miller site.
