has anyone ever converted an old sears drillpress over to wide belt drive from the narrow belt drive( one fourth inch), If so what is the best way to make the change. The spindle pulley has splines instead of round shaft...

I did mine many years ago when one pulley failed. Always thought it was a joke to think that the skinny belt could transmit a half hp. Liked the many speeds tho- now I have only one. I think the pulleys I put on have setscrews in the hub. Could check tomorrow.
