Hey all,

I'm looking to get a gas welding/cutting outfit and have heard good things about HPG gas (Propylene). I understand it is much more stable than acetylene and it's better for cutting. It can also be used at much higher pressures than acetylene. Does anyone out there have any experience using this gas? How about equipment recomendations?

I know that a special regulator is required to fully benefit from the higher pressure capabilities of this gas and that you should use type T hose. So far, it seems kind of expensive to get this equipment and a little hard to find. I believe you can cut and weld with this gas using regular oxy-acetylene equipment, albeit with limited results. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Matt

Never used this gas but do use LP exclusively. Takes some getting used to but once you have the right torch (Harris type F) you'll come to love it like I have.

More stable and safer than acet. and lots cheaper too. Don't recall what post it was under but I put up a rant about LP and the equipment a while back on this board. May want to look around for it and read it over.

If you have any more questions, you can best get me on my MB at the link below. I get over here when I can but not every day.
