hello, i read recently about putting your cordless charger on a timer, but didn't find out for how long per charging cycle--i have skil 14.4 volt. found out this charger will fry batts. just bought 1 new bat.& timer ouch! this will give me time to get others rebuilt-i should trash & apply money towards newer stuff, but i burned up a charger--bought another set-up at pawn shop, so have 2 drills, saws, flashlite, now 5 batts. thanks for your advice-

I posted about a timer a couple of weeks ago, if that's the one you read.

So far it's working great. It's a one hour timer because that's all I could find at the time, and one hour seems to do the trick so far. It's the kind of timer you will see in bathrooms to control the exhaust fan or heat lamp and can be found at a hardware or big box store. The plug in I am dedicating for the charger is a single surface mount box that I changed to a double box with the timer in one side and the plug in in the other side.

I was initially looking for a portable single set timer that could be plugged into the wall anywhere but they're hard to find. There are all kinds of programmable ones out there. Someone did suggest using a programmable one and setting it to come one for a short time every night. That would work too.

There was a question about the charger draining the battery if the battery was left in the charger with the juice turned off, but so far no appreciable drain back has happened. This is a four year old Bosch 18V.

I hope this helps. Jim
