Are there any things to watch for in a waterpump replacement on a 97 Chev Astro,has AC.Looks straight forward.Suggestions?Thanks Dan

Do you have the large wrench and holding fixture to remove clutch fan? You're gonna need it.Some auto parts stores will borrow it to you when you buy their parts.

BTW,counter-clockwise to remove.

I don't have experience with teh 4.3, but when I did it on a 5.7 V8, it really was a straight forward as it looked. I know that both engines are similar - that is why I replied. Just make sure that you find teh torque specs for the WP bolts so that you don't have leaks....

4.3 is just a 350/5.7 with two cyls missing so it is the same. Pump is held on the block with four bolts. Just remove clean the gasket area good and install the new pump. I like a little blue permatex on the gaskets, but that is up to you.
