Heat Gun for Paint Removal?

I have a 1940 9N that I am repainting. My compressor is not big enough to power a sand blaster. I've tried oven cleaner, commercial paint removers, etc. and I really don't like any of these methods. I have been sloooowly removing paint using a scraper, putty knife and a die grinder with knoted wire brushes. I have a heat gun that I have used on small projects to remove paint and it works great. (turns the paint into an ash that comes off easy with a wire brush. I would only be using it on areas that are too small to get to with the tools metioned above. Anybody see any problems? The tractor does not have any leaks and I am removing all of the old, dry grease and dirt as I go.

Here's a recipe for home-made paint stripper posted by Zane on the N-board. You might want to give it a try. It's cheap and effective.

I don't know for sure but I think high heat on the tin (ie- hood, dash, grill ect)parts would cause the metal to warp, as far as on the heavy cast metal I don't think it would be a problem. IMO
