My dad is looking for a dolly used to move heavy cast iron wood burning stoves. They have a series of rollers used to move the stove out of the way. Anyone heard of such a device or where to purchase a set?

Thanks

Aaron

I have a couple of tools as well as brushes. I always use the colapsable one that you drop down colapsed. Then you jerk the rope and it fans out as you pull it to the top. I have had it for thirty years and do not know where I saw them last. Some folks think you can remove the shinny glaze that you get if you do not fire hot enough. There is nothing you can do but burn that glaze out or let it dry out during the summer. Oh Yea if you use the fan out type you must have a decent chimney without motar overhangs as it will lock it' self in. You can drop a chunk of pipe down your rope to contract the cleaner if needed. I will try to find a supplier.

could you use 3 or 4 lengths of say 3/4 inch pipe, just keep replacing in front as it rolls off behind? Dan

I saw one of those systems in use when my brother had an insert installed two months ago. Pretty special system that pulls a stove out, lowers it down, and then rolls it easy over the floor through the house. Maybe ask an installer where to purchase one--probably expensive.
If your looking for a cast iron dolly--I have one of those, in NJ.

Might be others, but McMaster-Carr has a whole range of dollies for dimensions and weight capacity.

As for the chimney sweep tools, all ya need is a white chicken and a black chicken! First, ya lower the black chicken down the chimney, with a rope, then ya pull it back out, and next ya lower a white chicken down and pull it back out, to see if ya need another black chicken! Works every time! At least, thats whut my grand-daddy said!
