It was -4 here this morning. I had to drag a drop cord and heat gun out to an '89 Toyota truck to get the ignition thawed enough to turn the key. I looked at the spray stuff for door locks this afternoon but was advised not to use it in an ignition. I know a lot of you folks live where it's a lot colder than here so I know someone has cured this problem before. Thanks for any info!

Locksmith told me to avoid lock sprays.A worn key will give trouble.

Inject some full strength antifreeze in that lock! It will mix with the moisture and it won't freeze untill it gets -34..and another good thing is the lubricating qualities of ethylene glycol..not a bad thing!

Thanks Guys - I'll try them all!
As for the Kroil, I have a "stash" of a few cans that I save for "special occasions" - sounds like this is one of them!
I do know that I don't really want to drag a frozen drop cord and heat gun back to the truck when it's -4 with a 35 mph wind again! I know that's kinda wimpy compared to what some of you guys deal with, but I was raised near the beach in SC & I'm getting old - the joint replacements ache, too. Thanks for the suggestions!!!

I use a lock deicer , it comes in a small , tiny spray can with a nozzle. Allow it to set a few minutes and you are good to go

Try heating the key a bit before sticking it in the ignition. It may take more than one try.
