Has anyone published a book on shielding gas properties, uses, available mixtures, and the science behind it all? I am working on developing different automated weld processes and would like a greater understanding of shielding gasses. Thanks!

There are chapters in text books that address the uses and characteristics of shielding gases and fuel gases. A couple of these books are featured on our company web site. I think 'Modern Welding' is the best overall.

Another source for information is the Compressed Gas Associations web site. Some of the publications and pamphlets are free and some must be purchased. I have included a link for you.
