While going through a couple old tool boxes of mine I ran across these and thought they might stir some memories the pointed file has the groves on the flat on one end and on the edges on the other ( Made by Champion) the flat file with the pocket clip says New Britain made in USA The square Is a Champion plug gap gage The star shaped one is MM and the Dell special has Ignition Tester stamped on the porcelain the clip which is part of the base has Mueller elec. Co. Oleveland. O. made in USA on one side Mueller pat. Clip so maybe they didn�t put it together I have no idea Larry

Hey Larry
The spark tester with a clip on is as HEI HIGH ENERGY IGNITION TESTER. They were made to test electronic ignition systems, when the first came out. In those days plug gap was .080. That was also when the unleded gas was introduced. 33/34 yeas or more.

My dad worked for Champion for many years, I seem to remember him having one of those testers with the clip. Probably a Champion item

Mueller was awell known and respected maker of alligator clips and such back in the 50s and 60s. The maker of the tester apparently bought the clips from Mueller, so far as I know Mueller never made ignition testers.

Have then all too,pointy file for cleaning badly fouled plugs,Point file w/clip,square plug gauge holed for keychain or tether so you didn't drop it.Round wire gappers became popular with electronic ignitions and larger plug gaps than many leaf type gauges had.Spark tester clipped to ground to hold in place and kept H.O. ignition from zappin yer fingers...All old friends semi retired by technology :)
