Just got a dump truck 10 yard that has just one big telescoping hyd. cylinder.
All the trucks I have had in the past usually had two cylinders to raise the bed--or one cylinder in a sizzors arrangement.
Is just having this one big one a good deal????

With my uncles truck (a 10 yd mack CH612 6 wheler) it has a 3 stage single cylender, the only problem we have with this one is that if it goes all the way up when you lower it it will slam down a few inches at the top.

Need More details ,, But it Sounds like there is AIR TRapped in the cylindar,, Should be a Hand tight Bleeder screw at the top of Cylindar ,, I would lower the bed to do this for safety SAKE , However it can be done in the Up position , Be Careful ! Jim

Thats the way ALL of the big boys trucks are set up. 99% of the dump trucks used for road constrution are that way and they work very well.

all my dump trucks have 1 single cylinder, i would never ever own a twin cylinder job, if a hose failure occurs and it will, the single cylinder will come down fast and scare you , if that happens on a twin cylinder only one will colapse, which will cause the truck to roll over, and at the least tear up the truck at the worst it may kill somebody

Thats a pretty typical set-up. Most end dumps have a 5 stage cylinder, and the dump trucks have either 3 or 4 stages.

Dual cylinders are nightmares.
