I recently installed a used PTO I got and put it in my 560 standard that came from factory without. It is the old planetary style. I dropped the oil and it appeared ok. The shaft will not quit turning. I adjusted the bands like the service manual said but to no avail. The bands do not appear to be broke, because I adjusted the brake band snug and it chatters severely as if it wants to stop it. Did I get a toasted PTO? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks

I remember our 560 always turning a little bit especially when its cold. So is it really turning like its engaged or just free wheeling. I also remember pushing on the pto lever to get it to stop or even shutting down the tractor to hook up sometimes.

Our old 560 may have not been right either cause some problems you just learn to accecpt. I am sure there is some old mechanic that will make this clear as mud for all of us.

It acts like its engaged and not freewheeling. All our other 560's freewheel. I'll do some more checking. Thanks for the info.
