Anybody thinking of installing one of these types of boilers, write me a email and I will give you some advice that I have learned when I installed mine. I have changed/deleted/added stuff to mine that makes the house much warmer and saves on electricity. I got a aqua therm boiler that I bought off of ebay that was three years old. Got a good deal on it. email address is rchurchill@cis.net

There are some big changes being made and many of the outside woodburners may get banned by Federal legislation. Central Boiler - and a few other companies have already come up with the new EPA rated model that will eventually be the only type legal to sell. And, of course, it costs more.

Have a used Central Boiler that was put in by the previous owner. Does a great job, depending on the type of wood I am burning I might stoke 3 times a day. Have some nice aged oak and maple I burn with cotton wood and whatever I find along the road. Burns everything to a fine dust. Had the water pump replace and replaced the seal around the door. (We have installed a propane furnance as a backup for when we are not at home.)
Pain with our burner, hot water to house, is if we know we have to leave for a length of time, we drain the water jacket in below freezing weather.

6th year for the father in law on a heatmor. Blower fan went out once but when it runs year round to keep the moisture out in the summer thats pretty good. I think the central boilers are good units too and know people with them too.

They are somewhat inefficient due to the 180 degree water jacket surrounding a fire that is suppose to burn at 2000 degrees or so.

how big is your unit? what kind of warranty did they have on it. a salesman gave me a price of about 7000 for a unit for 5000 sq ft. does this sound a good or high.

This is the 6th winter of my Central Boiler. We love it, basically unlimited hot water and heat.
