Roomba Dirt Dog cleaning shop floors

These things look neat and supposedly will sweep up dirt, nuts, bolts, etc. They will operate for several hours on a battery charge and then head back to their "docking station" to charge up for the next use.

Has anyone here actually used one of them? How well does it work in a shop environment?

My shop is continually dirty from dirt coming in when the wind blows, as well as just the normal debris from working on equipment and so on.

By the way, the price for a Dirt Dog and the docking station was only $130 delivered to my door. I am anxiously awaiting delivery so I can see how it works. Just hoping someone can give me some feedback. Thanks.

I'vde had 'double-digit' roomba discoveries now.. each one lasts less than 2 months.

my house is 100% tile.. no extension cords, rugs or curtains with tassels.. IE.. ideal environment for a roomba..

there are huge internet sites devoted to users of these devices with many complaints.. suggest yuo read them.

I also had 1 'good' experience with customer service.. and they sent me a new supply.. after that.. they don't much care... Luckilly I had an extended warranty ont he unit.. however so many of them are getting returned now. that sears has implemented a '1' return max on the roomba even if you buy a 2yr warranty.. go figure!

i'm fairly mecahnical and electrically oriented.. if i can't keep one running.. they are pretty much junky 'brittle' products that only work in niche areas..
