About 28 years ago I aquired a bunch of stainless valves and fittings from a dairy plant job I was on. These have been piled in the corner of the storage shed for all these years. I'm sorting this stuff out and scrapping it. Several of these valves are oldies and made of "dairy brass" Is this just plated brass? or some alloy? Is it worth brass scrap price? or should I just throw it in the hopper with the rest of the stainless?

I used to work in a dairy plant and a lot of the packaging and filling machines had valves and components made of what I was told was dairy bronze. It was soft , a very pale yellow colour It wasnt plated just left with a machined finish.
Don't know how much it is worth but I remember getting parts made of it were very expensive so we often used a type of nylon instead.

If it's plated, hit it with a griner and see if it goes through or not. If it's solid brass, then it should definately be worth more or be worth separating.

I don't know but I know what you are talking about. It is a lighter color, almost a white brass.

Some of the older stuff was really plated brass. Remember we had some parts that were wearing thin. Think inspector threatened to shut us off, until we replaced it.
