Safety glass has a sandwhich construction with plastic in the middle as the "meat" , and the glass as the "bread". do you score both sides or what?

Score one side, flip over score the other on the same line, crack both sides pour methyl hydrate on crack light on fire (optional) and bend back and forth- you have to crack the glass fairly soon after scoring it or it may crack on its own where ever the heck it feels like

Sandwiched safety glass, as long as it's not tempered, cuts like regular glass with the exception you have to score both sides. With both sides scored squirt some lighter fluid in the crack and light it to soften the plastic and then cut it with a razor knife.

Military manual TM9-450 METAL BODY REPAIR AND RELATED OPERATIONS-1972 describes cutting and grinding vehicle glass. The grinder uses a silicon carbide wheel.Manual is copyrighted so I cant copy it for you but they probably printed a million of them.Try ebay maybe. In the book they score both sides and melt the plastic with methanol.Wet with kerosene first etc.

You can copy the manual. It's a Government copy right which restricts commercial use and not a citizen from using and sharing for no fee. We paid for it in the first place.

As mentioned in the thread on tempered glass, it doesn't cut after the tempering process.

Laminated glass, with a layer of plastic in the middle, is fairly easy to cut, at least the flat stuff. I watched a glass shop cut and fit laminated glass to two metal mandoors from my shop that I took to them in a truck. They measured, marked with a china marker, then scored both sides and broke it. Folded it over slightly, and used a razor to cut the plastic layer in the middle.

I saw the old, old glass cut years ago by scratching both sides, then cracking. then put in hot water till it will give a little and use a razor blade to cut the center. Don't know if will work on the new stuff.

Yeah ... at the old Wright's Glass shop in C. Springs they would score it, snap it and then pour a bit of kerosene in the crack and light it to heat the plastic. Then they cut it with a box knife.

you don't. But on the other hand, I needed some for a special project. I went to a glass co. they told me to make a templet , the will cut and treat it.
It worked well and still in there after 8-10 years.

I believe that most safety glass is tempered, and as far as i know you can't cut tempered glass it will shatter. I might be wrong but if i remember correctly that's the deal.

It will definitely shatter. Quite a few years ago somehow one of the plate glass doors at work got broken. Tim, our glass guy, ordered a new one. When it came in it was a quarter inch too long. So, Tim scored it deep on both sides, took a pair of whatevertheheck those flat-nosed pliers used on glass are called, and started chipping away the excess. About the 3rd chip and the entire sheet shattered. It was still breaking 3 hours later when we went home. Came in the next morning to a pile of little round pieces of glass.
