Lets create a dream PU truck Cheap, 30 mpg, 12 ft fleet side dump bed, 2 ton, aerodynamic, lowered roof, 2 seater. Toss the big ugly grille, carpeting and gismos.

One with a bed that would automatically narrow when I see the tool that I need is on the other side. My fat butt is getting too old for jumping up and hanging off the side of the thing.

On that note, an step bumper lift to help me get into the bed with these ol knees

I have a 1997 dodge cummins 3/54 gear ratio I can pull a 16000 lb. load and never shift out of 5th gear on the interstate. But with no load I would like about 3 more gears above 5th . I can get 25 mpg at 35mph . At 75 I drop below 18 mph RPMS SUCK FUEL.

My dream PU is in the polebarn. 1972 chev c10 stepside. body chopped8inches 1968 front end. 1973 6ft.bed. pearl blue 350V8 300 horse. Sits most of the time. Can't afford the gas to run it. It will probably become an expensive nik-nac.

My fantasy is to have it drop to the ground for loading and unloading.

Next fantasy is to have the bed sides drop like the tailgate.

Next fantasy is hydraulics, pto and a 3-point hitch on back.

Everything you describe is or was put on production units at one time or another so it is out there.

Dad has a 1 ton dump with a fold down side and those mini-pickups hitting the US market have them too. Old Jeeps had option of pto and 3pt.

Doesn't moving vans have an air ride that drops down for loading ? All that's left to to hook them all up on one model.

I agree I can modify a truck to do what I want. Though I haven't seen a 3-point hitch and pto for a truck in many years, and that one was not for sale.

I want an oem manufacturer to make a farm pickup. Personally, I think if they did, they'd have quite a seller.

I'm building mine a 68 Ford Crewcab with a 429/zf-5 or clark 5 speed. HP 60 open knuckle up front, dana 60 rear with 4:10's, transfer case not 100 percent sure of yet, prarie gold in color with two black stripes on the hood to help keep the sun reflectin in my eyes, all black interior with bucket seats up front. So far I'm in the teardown process.

2008 ford f-450, dually, 7.3 automatic, 25 mpg loaded, crew cab, all the options of a king ranch. Ford is the only way to go.

30mpg in a two-ton truck???? I'd sure say that's dreamin'!!! :)

But to go with the spirit of this thread...I've always been partial to the 67-72 Chevys myself...so how about a nice '72 Cheyenne, AC cab, long wide box with wood floor...sittin' on a new 3/4ton frame with the Duramax/Allison combination, 4 wheel discs, extra fuel tank in the rear between the framerails, etc....

Brand new made by Navistar with 7.3 old style diesel. Allison auto or 6 spd manual trans options. Wind up windows, rubber floor mats, plain cloth seat, sliding rear window. Available in three GVW choices 3/4t, 1t and 1.5t.
4X4 option to include manual hubs, manual t-case with lockers front and rear. Good am/fm old style shaft tune radio. Factory optional lo profile utility bed with goose neck ball.

Brand new 65 or 66 F-100 Custom Cab short wide bed with 300 6cyl, T-98 4 speed and Dana 60 4:10 rear. Or a new 57 Chevy 3100 with 235 6cyl, 4 speed, short step side.

Dream truck---- 66 chevy short stepside. 230 motor, four speed. Delux cab with big back window. dimmer switch where they belong. Would want leaf springs though, the swing arm with coils was a bit mushy. Want it brand new after they hot dip gavvinize the whole body. After it was painted it would last longer than me. Father in law had this truck, honest 18mpg at 3640 pounds empty.

Bone stock 56 ford f100 body with a FI 300 6 cylinder, 5 speed and twin I beam front suspension.Make sure it has a heater.

Model A Ford,Small block Chev.three dueces.open pipes,airbags,4 speed,bullet holes in body,fenderless.Strangly 4x8 foot plywood lays down in the bed.Heck give it fuel injection and a blower.It is a dream.

Fold down titanium sides for flatbed to dump bed switch over. Hydraulic bed that extends like a ramp truck to load equipment AND can dump also. Removable Sleeper with full kitchen and sleeping area for camping in at shows. Cummins engine, Allison transmission and Ford running gear.

8 ft is the best bed length. 12 feet is too long.

Have a dump capability, with enough capacity to dump a bed full of firewood.

I am getting ready to build mine. It will be a 49 Chevy truck body on a modern 4x4 chassis and driveline. I hope to make it reliable enough to drive anywhere... And look good doing it.

If you find you need parts let me know. I'm building my son a 1950 Chev. pick up and just picked up a 5 window cab and so other parts and when where done with his I know I'll have a good number of parts left over.

You can leave that lowered roof chopped top up high for me as I like to be able to see out. So many of this "new" stuff being built has terrible blind spots frt. and rear !
