Powermate generator update

Upon VERY CLOSE inspection I found a faulty circuit board where the copper trace had not fully formed, leading to a solder joint failure of the exciter circuit.

I was able to scrape away some of the plastic overlay, clean up the posts, and remake the connections. It works now.

The picture is with Super MacroZoom digital camera and with plain old failing eyesight, the issue wasn't even imediately visible.

on circuit boards if foil is cracked try to bridge it with short piece of wire for best repair.

Seen a bunch of solder joints like that in my time as an electronics technician. Seems that they escape the inspections with regularity.

It doesn't look to me like it was defective, or missed inspection, It simply looks like the HUNDREDS of other cracked solder joints I have ssen over the years.

The connector pin expands/contracts at a different rate than the board/foil/solder 'til the joint fails.

Probably the single most common failure in modern electronic devices!
