Do you have any other "burn" programs on your PC??

If you bought the PC with a DVD burner already in it, you probably have a program like Roxio or Sonic that can burn DVD's.

If so, try one of them - they are liable to either work or give you a much better error message. Also, they will have more options for burn parameters than Realplayer.

Also, keep in mind there are different formats for underlying file compressions. It might be something to the specific file you are trying to burn...

Just get yourself a program like DVDFab and you can burn any movie from, or onto DVD. It will also elimate all encryption and regional coding.

Hey CB
It looks like the program is running and stuck or non responding. Look and see what is running and you may see a prompt that says the program is not responding. You then you need to close it out and try to burn again.
Goo Luck..... ..... ...Guido.

You probably have hit some copyright infringement wall. Weather it be by a file you were working with, or by a silent download and update through your software.

There may be a work around for this somewhere, but even if so, I would think it would be short lived. Or perhaps not even legal.

Fact is, since the days of VCR and cassette audio tape it has become a lot harder to transfer or save anything copyrighted.

Good Luck

HEY CB
I'm guessing you have not read my post or it did not work.
What you can try also is a cold boot.
Turn the computer off, wait a minute and reboot.
Guido.

I got a memoxed DVD player that I installed into the computer tower itself. The problems you mention sound like it may be a virus. so i would run a scan. If nothing yet, I would reinstall the entire package. That"s all i got and hope this helps.

Hey Cb
You can try system restore, and take the computer back to the time/date it was working O.K.
You will loose any programs installed after that date, you'll have to reistall them!
Guido.

That's interesting - do you actually have two drives?? Or just one??

What were the file sizes of the first few movies??

Are you aware that a CDROM holds roughly 660Mb (or a little more), while DVD's hold considerably more - depending on what flavor the DVD is?? In other words, the 7th movie isn't just a lot bigger, is it??

Did you use another burn program?? Did it give a different error?

How old is the PC??

It is quite curious that I've heard several people having that same problem - it will work for a while and then crash...

You might try uninstalling and reinstalling the burn program. If you are pretty techie, you could even go in and delete the program file subdirectory after you uninstall it to make sure it is gone for a clean reinstall. It is not that uncommon for a program to "break itself" when it crashes.

The trouble here is - so much of a burn program relies on Windows files, the trouble in the program (if that is where the problem lays) may not be in the program's subdirectory - it may be in a common subdirectory that is shared with other apps.

thanks howard for the reply. the pc is about 3 yrs olld. we have 2 drives one for cds and one for dvds.most of the movies we try are about 50-69 min.] old b. westerns ]..the only responce is from realplayer that says recoding files for burn, but it never finishes . we think that the window showing the process of switching burners is hidden behind realplayer window, when we attempt the burn. we have verifyed the fact that it is switching burners. i believe that is the problem, why? we cant figure it out. we need help on that process. we will try the reinstall today thamks for all ur help. have a good day

I haven't used Realplayer for burning myself, but Windows Media player will also burn media. It is free from Microsoft and should already be on your PC.

For a PC of that age, there were often differences in +RW, -RW, etc media types. Some drives only "talked" one format or the other. Have you been using the same type of burn media all along??

thanks i will try to comment on your replies. we just started to try to burn dvds, we installed a dvd burner. the pc only had a cd burner. as stated we burned about 6 movies, then started having this problem.windows is installed. we will check into that.we will begin again tomorrow to check out your suggestions. as i said we located the problem we think. it is switching burners when we try to burn with realplayer. from dvd to cd. we certainly thank all of you for you help we will try other players/burners also reinstall the burner and run a scan.
